A motorcyclist in her 50s has been flown to hospital after crashing into a mob of kangaroos in rural Queensland.

An ambulance crew attended the scene on Leyburn Cunningham Road, Old Talgai — about 70 kilometres south-west of Toowoomba —  at 11:28am, before a LifeFlight helicopter arrived about an hour later.

A LifeFlight spokesperson said the woman had been riding in a group when a bunch of kangaroos crossed the road in front of her, causing her to crash into one.

The group of riders were able to provide her with first aid, before emergency services arrived.

The LifeFlight Surat Gas Aeromedical Service SGAS helicopter pilot landed the aircraft on a stretch of road, near where the incident had occurred, which had been closed by Queensland Police Service officers.

The woman suffered several injuries including chest, shoulder and a broken wrist.

She was flown to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition.

It follows a similar incident on the Southern Downs on Friday where a man was flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, after he was injured in a dirt bike riding incident.

It’s believed the man, aged in his 50s, had been attempting a jump at a track, when he fell from his bike.
